Fox Valley Technical College, also known as Fox Valley Tech or simply FVTC, is a technical college located in the city of Appleton in the state of Wisconsin. The school is a member of the Wisconsin Technical College System. Fox Valley Tech serves the people of their district with specific career training. This includes technical training, adult basic education and continuing education, and customized employee training.
The school was established back in 1912, where the city’s vocational schools were formed in six locations in the district, all within Wisconsin. These locations included Appleton, Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha, Kaukauna, and Brillion. Then in 1967, the state legislature divided the Wisconsin into 16 different districts. This led to the formation of Fox Valley Technical Institute. Then in 1987, the school and all the state technical schools were merged and renamed as the Fox Valley Technical College.
Fox Valley Technical College also offers over 200 different associate degree, technical diploma and certificate programs, and training for more than 20 apprenticeship trades. The school also has credit transfer agreements with almost 30 four-year colleges and universities. This means that their graduates can continue their associate degrees and with another school and earn a 4 year college degree.
The main campus is located in Appleton. The school’s second location is found in Oshkosh. Fox Valley Tech also features smaller regional centers in Waupaca, Chilton, Wautoma and Clintonville. The school has an average student body of more than 50,000 each school year. Almost a third of the student body (73%) are part time students, and there are over 700 apprenticeship students each term. More than 30,000 students are taking continuing educational courses and 13% of all the students take their courses in the Oshkosh campus. The school colors are maroon and grey and the school nickname are the Foxes.
